Paris Olympics 2024: Barbie launches a range of dolls featuring sportswomen, including Estelle Mossely

From the competition outfit to the “Estelle” belt, including the long braid that styles her hair, everything is there. Since Wednesday, May 22, boxer Estelle Mossely has her own Barbie. The famous German doll, marketed since 1959, has unveiled the launch of a range dedicated to high-level sportswomen.

“What pride to have my own Barbie with all that that represents,” writes the Rio Olympic champion in 2016. “It’s an honor to be part of the Barbie 2024 team surrounded by all these great champions. » In addition to honoring “inspiring athletes”, the objective for the brand is “to encourage girls to persevere in sport”, specifies the brand in a press release.

“I have always been keen to inspire the new generation, to encourage young girls to persevere in sport. I want to show that you can be what you want, be a boxer or a champion,” continues the woman who also declared herself a candidate for the role of standard bearer of the French delegation during the opening ceremony. .

Venus Williams and Federica Pellegrini also have their doll

“We must not set limits, identify what we like, what makes us vibrate and then give ourselves the means to succeed,” concludes Estelle Mossely. Work, believe in it, persevere and don’t stop at the slightest obstacle. »

In addition to Estelle Mossely, eight other top athletes now have “their” Barbie doll. They are the tennis player Venus Wiliams, four times Olympic title winner, the gymnasts Alexa Morno (Mexico) and Rebecca Andrade (Brazil), the Polish athlete Ewa Swoboda, the former Italian swimmer Federica Pellegrini, footballer Mary Fowler (Australia) and Christine Sinclair (Canada) or the Spanish paratriathlete Susana Rodriguez.

Beyond the Olympic deadline, the German brand found in its 65th anniversary an additional opportunity to highlight “Sports Role Models”. This had already been the case in 2020 with footballer Amandine Henry. “I want to help the next generations to break the ceiling of dreams,” insisted the former captain of the Bleues.
