Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Guinea last qualified in the Bleuets group for the football tournament

The Bleuets are now fixed. The last qualifier for the football tournament at the Paris Olympic Games, Guinea completes the French group, in which the United States and New Zealand were already located. Sily National beat Indonesia (1-0) in a play-off match played at Clairefontaine on Thursday afternoon, under the eyes of Fifa boss Gianni Infantino. This is the second participation of Guineans in the Olympic tournament, after 1968.

The Guineans will face France in the second group match on July 27 at 9 p.m. in Nice. Thierry Henry’s Bleuets will begin their tournament three days earlier against the United States, in Marseille at 9 p.m., and will play their last meeting in this group A on July 30 against New Zealand, at 7 p.m. in Marseille.

The best-known player of this Guinean team is Ilaix Moriba, trained at FC Barcelona currently in Getafe. He also scored the only goal of this decisive match, on a penalty. Young people accustomed to French pitches, such as Strasbourg’s Saรฏdou Sow, Annecy’s Ousmane Camara and Bastiais’s Facinet Conte, also feature in this team.
