When the two brothers were performing one after another and taking all the limelight, Gauzy was going through a much more complicated phase at the same time. During the summer of 2022, the Toulouse native, former world number 8, “hit rock bottom from week to week”, as he told us last March, before rising to the surface. “In the media obscurity, we knew what was being done,” remembers Jean-Nicolas Barelier, the national technical director of the French Table Tennis Federation.
