The Paraguayan midfielder and the Uruguayan soccer player were discovered by members of the coaching staff, according to Globo Esporte.

The situation took place in a hotel in the town of Ceará and both were fined and separated from the squad: in fact, they will not play against Universitario for the Copa Libertadores.

Óscar Romero’s defense: “There is a lot of speculation with the term indiscipline”

Romero declared on Radio Monumental of Paraguay: “Things happened to Diego (Hernández) during training that should not have happened. They made a decision that seemed hasty to me. “They informed me of the decision to return to Rio and I was surprised.”

The former Boca, Racing and San Lorenzo soccer player added: “They gave information out of context that is not correct. This bothers me because it affects my family. There is much speculation with the term indiscipline. They could have handled the topic differently, but I have to accept it. When the managers and the coaching staff return, we will talk about it and resolve it.”

At no time did Romero clarify what happened and limited himself to admitting that “there was a problem of coexistence at the concentration.”

For the next few days, at least, the two players will train alone at the Botafogo facility in Rio de Janeiro.
