Norway surprises with victory against Denmark

Norway celebrated its first victory at the World Cup in the Czech Republic. Austria’s rival in the fight against relegation defeated Denmark 2-0 in Prague on Tuesday. In Group B in Ostrava, Latvia beat Kazakhstan 2-0 and remains in the race for a place in the quarter-finals.

Norway’s lead in the 28th minute came from a combination of two generations. 18-year-old Michael Brandsegg-Nygaard scored after an assist from 40-year-old Patrick Thoresen and a pass from 36-year-old NHL veteran Mats Zuccarello, Marco Rossi’s teammate at Minnesota Wild. Erik Salsten fixed the final score in the empty goal (60th).
