European Cup winners Chemnitz are in the semi-finals of the BBL. Now coach Rodrigo Pastore’s protégés meet Alba Berlin.
The Niners Chemnitz basketball team have won the playoffReached the semi-finals of the German championship. Coach Rodrigo Pastore’s protégés had the upper hand at Rasta Vechta on Thursday with 84:67 (44:26) and won the series 3-1. In the semi-finals, the Saxons will meet Alba Berlin, who easily defeated Telekom Baskets Bonn in three games in the quarter-finals.
Jeff Garrett played the biggest role in the guests’ success with 19 points. Tommy Kuhse scored the most points for Vechta with 18 points. The Chemnitz team celebrated a start-to-finish victory and thus prevented a decisive fifth game.
The guests were ahead 7-0 after three minutes and extended their lead to 40:22 by the 18th minute. Although the Lower Saxony team was able to reduce the score to 40:48 (26th) shortly after the break, the Niners were unable to take the win out of their hands thanks to their strong defense. In addition, the guests had a much better hit rate from the field and also had the air supremacy under the baskets. The Saxons got 36 rebounds, the hosts only 26.
