Nikola Jokic Leads Denver Nuggets to Victory in Game 5 Against Minnesota Timberwolves

Denver Nuggets (W2) – Minnesota Timberwolves (W3) 112:97 (BOXSCORE), Series: 3-2

Because the Knicks vs. Pacers lasted a whopping 2:36 hours due to numerous interruptions, many fans in the USA didn’t even see the small MVP ceremony for Nikola Jokic, who received his third MVP award from Commissioner Adam Silver. But what everyone then saw was an all-time performance from the Serb, who decided Game 5 almost single-handedly. It was 40 points (15/22 FG), 7 rebounds and 13 assists for the Joker, who had everything going and who didn’t lose a single ball in 41 minutes.

Especially in the third quarter, the center completely took over the action after Minnesota had even taken the lead for a short time. Minnesota threw everything at Jokic, but he still managed 16 points (6/7 FG) and 4 assists.

Jamal Murray (16, 7/14) wasn’t a big factor this time, but Aaron Gordon (18, 10 rebounds) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (16, 4/5 3P) were very reliable again. For Minnesota, Anthony Edwards (18, 5/15, 9 assists) had a weak evening, Karl-Anthony Towns (23, 10/19) was the top scorer, although he was limping badly at times with a knee injury. Rudy Gobert (18, 7/7, 11 rebounds) looked pretty damn bad against Jokic, but at least had good counting stats.
