The day after the announcement of Adrian Newey’s departure from Red Bull at the start of 2025, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc said on Thursday that a possible arrival of the brilliant British engineer at Ferrari would be “incredible”.
The seven-time world champion, who will leave Mercedes to join the Scuderia next year, admitted during the press conference before the Miami Grand Prix that he would like Newey to join his future team.
“(I would) love…Adrian has such a track record, such expertise. He has done remarkable work throughout his career. I think he would be an incredible asset to the team. If I had to make a list of people I would like to work with, he would definitely be at the top. It would be a privilege to work with him.”Hamilton said.

Charles Leclerc
Unsurprisingly, Charles Leclerc, his future teammate in the Italian team, shares his opinion. “Obviously I would be very happy to work with Adrian. “Even though the team is very strong at the moment, anyone who can make it even stronger is welcome and Adrian is one of those people who can make the difference”, he added during a press briefing. After several weeks of rumors, Red Bull formalized on Wednesday the departure of Adrian Newey (65) at the start of 2025 after almost 20 years with the Austrian team.

Artisan of the successes of the team which he joined in 2006, a year after its creation, and with which he won six constructors’ world titles and seven among the drivers, the British engineer would have decided to leave due to the struggles of power underway at Red Bull, according to the BBC.
The team based in Milton Keynes (England) is in fact torn by an internal war which came to light in February after accusations of “inappropriate behavior” towards an employee targeting director Christian Horner, who has since been cleared by an internal investigation.
