In the projected 2024 NBA Draft, Reed Sheppard from Kentucky is chosen as the second overall pick for the Wizards, following top selection Alex Sarr.

There is currently no clear frontrunner for the top pick in this year’s draft, unlike last year with Victor Wembanyama or potentially next year with Cooper Flagg. However, many NBA experts seem to favor Alex Sarr, a 7-foot-1 center from France, as the top selection next month – a sentiment that I share. Alternatively, the Hawks may consider trading the pick for an experienced player, as they are not necessarily in a rebuilding phase, but rather aiming to improve their standing in the Eastern Conference after a 36-46 record this season.

Assuming Clint Capela’s contract is expiring, I can assume Atlanta will choose to use their first pick on Sarr, who possesses all the necessary traits for a modern big man except for a consistent jump shot. This skill is crucial, as they say. Although his shooting percentages have not been impressive thus far, there are signs that Sarr is comfortable shooting from the perimeter, giving reason to believe that this 19-year-old has the potential to become a valuable frontcourt player and possibly even the top player from the 2024 NBA Draft.
Congratulations to them. What happens next?
On Sunday, Atlanta was the most recent team to reap the rewards of the NBA Draft Lottery. The Hawks managed to secure the top pick in the draft, even though they had a better season record than nine other teams.

As usual, we will see.
