NBA: West finals, Doncic-Irving drag Dallas – Basketball

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving scored 63 points between them (33 for the Slovenian, 30 for the other) to drag the Dallas Mavericks to a 108-105 victory on the Minnesota Timberwolves in game one of the Western finals of the NBA playoffs.

Doncic gave his best when it counted, in the fourth quarter, in which he scored 15 of his 33 points while Irving had given Dallas strength from the start with 24 of his 30 points arriving in the first phase of the match. Karly-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves’ main strengths, were limited by the Dallas defense. So Edwards scored just 19 points (double double for him, as he also grabbed 11 rebounds) and Towns 16, and the two together shot 12/36 from the field.

Minnesota had a +4 lead (102-98) with 3’37” left in the fourth period, after a triple by Edwards, but Dallas responded with an 8-0 run. Then in the end, after three points from the Timberwolves, a jump shot by Doncic set the score at 108-105.
