Sidy Cissoko was in any case not surprised by the performance of Victor Wembanyama during his first season in the NBA. “Not really, but I know him well. When we were younger, he was taller than the others but he wanted to play point guard. We knew he would become someone,” he confided, in an interview with Le Parisien. Indeed, the two rookies of Spurs played against each other when they were still teenagers: “We faced each other with our clubs or our selections (Wembanyama with Hauts-de-Seine and Cissoko with Essonne). We won, they won. It was the match not to lose in the season. Everyone was talking about it. We had filled the handball room in Massy for a Christmas tournament. »

If he is not surprised by his performance, Sidy Cissoko and the other players Spurs despite everything, sometimes remain captivated by what can be done Victor Wembanyama. “Every match is magic with him. We try to understand how he does it, even in training we are all shocked when he does certain things. Everyone loves him in San Antonio. Not because he is number 1 in the draft, but because he gives everything on the field to win, he does not cheat,” added Sidy Cissoko.
