NBA Playoffs Update: Denver and New York Take 3-2 Lead, T’Wolves and Pacers on the Brink

NBA playoffs: Denver and New York are at 3-2, T’Wolves and Pacers with their backs to the wall

After putting the series back in balance thanks to two away wins, the Denver Nuggets completed the overtaking by beating Minnesota (112-97) in front of their home fans. On the evening in which he was awarded the Regular Season MVP award, Nikola Jokic gave his fans another joy by dominating the game far and wide, scoring 40 points, 13 assists and 0 turnovers. Good performances also for Gordon and Murray, who scored 34 points overall.

The best in the T’Wolves house, however, is Karl-Anthony Towns with 23 points, while Anthony Edwards does not go beyond 18 points. Evening to forget for Rudy Gobert, who despite the double double can’t do anything against Jokic in one-on-one situations.

In the other series, New York took the lead over Indiana by winning Game 5 121-91. The star of the evening was Jalen Brunson with 44 points. More effort than expected for Tyrese Haliburton, who did not go beyond 13 points and 5 assists in 34 minutes of play.

A good part of the Knicks’ triumph was given by their dominance in offensive rebounding (26 points from second chances). “We were annihilated on loose balls and rebounds. We must take responsibility for it. It was embarrassing, a very hard lesson” these were the words of Rick Carlisle at the end of the match.
