Our battles, whether at the contractual tables or in the courtrooms, are always aimed at protecting those in our schools who spend every day to advance education and educate our children, the future citizens of tomorrow”. These are the words of the president of Anief, Marcello Pacifico, a young representative union that protects school workers, a few days before the elections for the renewal of the CSPI.
“We need to stabilize temporary workers – continued the leader Anief – it is necessary: Europe is asking us for it and they are asking us for it, loudly. Competitions cannot be enough on their own, but they can contribute to the stabilization of substitutes together with the flow of GPS, the rankings for substitutes. Together, competitions and rankings represent that double recruitment channel that we have been requesting for a long, long time. The time has come to recognize the merits of those who have been teaching in our schools for years.”
“In the Northern regions, most of the advertised positions will still remain vacant and therefore destined for temporary workers, with the right to education which will once again be violated. In the last ten years we have experienced nine competitive procedures which have left at least half of the vacant professorships uncovered, even doubling the number of overall substitutes which for the first time has reached 250 thousand, as at the beginning of this year. annual contracts. To avoid the continuous abuse of fixed-term contracts, which also has implications for the omission of contributions, like Anief, in the next opinions of the CSPI we will express the positions that we have brought to parliament in recent years thanks to our legislative actions”, stated the independent trade unionist .
“If on the one hand the CSPI, which is a technical body, and on the other the union bring forward the same requests, perhaps we could change the school. Why is Anief showing up? But because the CSPI, which is renewed every 5 years, in the last 8 years with 7 different ministers has expressed only 167 opinions, 20 opinions per year, to always say yes: 90% of these opinions are positive. And what did they say yes to? In 2016 to the reform of the competition classes, in 2017 to the evaluation table of the institute rankings and of the Gae, to the recruitment for competition instead of the GPS and reopening of Gae. I don’t want Anief candidates to say no but to study, giving a critical contribution that starts from a criticism of merit. We do it as a union, we will do it as CSPI”, concluded president Anief.
On May 7, 2024, therefore in less than a week, school workers will be called to vote on their representatives for the renewal of the elective component of the Superior Council of Public Education. The CSPI is a consultative body that allows elected representatives to be consulted on the application of decrees and laws on schools. It is possible to place one’s trust in the representative union Anief, with the “Democracy, Responsibility and Participation” list, which has always been alongside teachers and ATA and educational staff, particularly attentive to the needs of temporary workers.
In the meantime, the courts continue to compensate temporary workers for appeals sponsored by Anief lawyers: more than 5 million returned in the first 4 months of 2024, 11 million in 2023. A new record is looming.
