This weekend, from May 9 to 12, Latvian speedboat pilot Nils Slakteris opens this year’s racing season with two ambitious races in Mons, Belgium!
26 of the world’s fastest F4 drivers from all over the world will gather for the first race of the season! Among the titled pilots from France, Sweden, Finland, Norway and the Arab Emirates, our Latvian fastest F4 pilot – Nils Slakteris with the Riga Powerboat team – will also compete in the competition.
After three qualifying races, the pilots who will be given the opportunity to compete in the World Championship will be determined, as only the 18 fastest pilots from around the world will be allowed to the starting line! The competition will be particularly intense, because everyone who has traveled the long way to Belgium has one goal – to defend the honor of their team and country in the Formula 4 World Championship!
Immediately after the F4 World Championship in Mons, Belgium, the prestigious 12h Endurance race will take place. Riga Powerboat team will defend Latvia’s name in it! In this competition, which will take place from May 11 to 12, two professional athletes will sit in the F4 speedboat produced by Lonberg – the Latvian, F4 pilot Nils Slakteris and the Estonian, Stefans Arands, who made his debut in the prestigious F1 class this year. In this team composition, finishing in good positions, receiving titled awards as well as standing on the podium, the team has been competing for the 3rd year.
This endurance competition is the highest test of technique, pilots’ skills and technicians’ professionalism, as it is expected that for two days the pilots will compete for 6 hours from the spot, changing pilots every 2 hours, as well as refueling on the water. Until now, the Riga Powerboat team has been the only Latvian team that has competed in this competition in three years. Also this year, the Riga Powerboat team does not hide that it has come to get on the podium!
