Well, despite the notable technology that was established in the Major League BaseballCommissioner Rob Manfred stated this Thursday that the Automated Ball and Strike System or better known as Umpires Robots, “for now” will not reach the best baseball in the world.
After the owners’ meetings at the MLB offices in Manhattan (NY), the senior executive of the MLB confirmed that this system, known as ABS, still has problems in the minor leagues, thus delaying its arrival, at least until the 2026 season.
We still have some technical problems; I am not referring to technology, but to technical problems in terms of the operation of the system. We haven’t made as much progress in the minors this year as we expected at this point. “I think it is increasingly likely that this will not come to fruition by 2025.”

One of the problems that this new technology still presents is that the various height measurements of the players in the batter’s box and the positioning of the cameras that regulate this statistic; and that is why the top executive of North American baseball wants to make the pertinent corrections to avoid problems in the future, once it is launched.
Among his statements, Manfred highlighted that conversations about this new technology with the MLB Players Association (MLBPA) have not yet begun, despite there being a growing consensus among some players.
“We haven’t started those conversations (with the MLBPA) because we haven’t come to a conclusion on what we think about it. It’s difficult to have those conversations before you know what you’re thinking,” concluded the Major League boss.
