Minors Indicted for Attack on Police Near Grenoble: One Adult Summoned to Court

The police attacked again. Four minors were indicted and an adult was summoned to court near Grenoble. This was announced by the prosecution on the evening of Tuesday April 27 to Wednesday April 28, 2021. The facts date back to Saturday April 24. In the wealthy suburb of Meylan, two police cars were targeted by firework mortars and stone throwing. Reinforcements rushed to the scene before more shots were fired. A 15-year-old boy was arrested.

The suspect admitted the facts. His hearing made it possible to find four people involved, who also admitted their involvement: two brothers aged 15 and 16, a young person aged 16 and an adult aged 18. According to the Grenoble prosecutor, Éric Vaillant, the group “had formed the plan to attack the gendarmes with mortars”, which they had ordered on the social network Snapchat. Saturday evening, the gendarmes targeted were called by “a local resident reporting a gathering of around ten young people armed with baseball bats”.

The four minors were presented on Tuesday April 27 to the juvenile judge to be indicted for “intentional violence in a meeting with a weapon and against persons holding public authority” and “degradation in a meeting”.
