Mexico, ready to host technology industry: Ramírez de la O – El Sol de México

Mexico is prepared to host industries with high technological content and be at the forefront of new production trends, said this Thursday the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, when inaugurating a Microsoft data center.

The official recognized that it will be vitally important that, in the coming years, the country maintains innovation and investments to address an inclusive technological transition that reaches companies of all scales, for the benefit of better services and jobs for Mexicans.

Ramírez de la O participated in the opening of a Microsoft data center in central Mexico, where he noted that this type of investment confirms the environment of trust and optimism about the future of the Mexican economy.

Furthermore, he indicated that the development of infrastructure in Mexican territory contributes to the economic development of the country.

The start of this data center, he stated, “is also proof that Mexico is prepared to host industries with high technological content and be at the forefront in a global environment where more and more production processes are operated digitally.”

The head of the Treasury asserted that the Mexican economy, which expanded 1.6 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024 and 3.2 percent in 2023, has exceeded market and analyst expectations.

He assured that this impulse will maintain the interest of Mexico as an ideal destination for foreign investment in the midst of the reconfiguration of global value chains or ‘nearshoring’.

“Those seeking to relocate their production processes in our country will now have cutting-edge, safe and high-performance infrastructure to improve efficiency and add value to their operations,” he commented.

Ramírez de la O also said that technological progress plays a primary role in the economic growth of any nation, as he stated that innovations allow improving production processes, increasing productivity and generating greater well-being.

He also noted that the installation of this Microsoft data center will bring services closer to people, companies and government agencies, which will strengthen Mexico as a center of innovation and investment.

Likewise, he explained that these investments in the country also catalyze the development of a digital ecosystem that will boost the country’s economic growth and job creation in coming years.
