Merlier winner in the sprint of this 3rd stage, Pogacar still in pink

This Monday the third stage of the Giro was held. The Belgian from the Soudal Quick-Step team, Tim Merlier won in the sprint. Tadej Pogacar retains his pink jersey as overall leader.

The Belgian Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step) won the third stage of the Tour of Italy in a sprint this Monday, contested over 166 km between Novara and Fossano in Piedmont. Milan and Girmay complete the podium. For his part, the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE), who had captured the leader’s pink jersey the day before, attacked in the last two kilometers but was caught by the peloton. He remains overall leader with a 45-second lead over Geraint Thomas. First Frenchman, Alex Baudin ranks 14th.
