Medina del Campo Hosts Castilla y León Badminton Championships: Soria-CS24 Club Shines with Four Gold Medals

The Valladolid town of Medina del Campo brought together players from the under-15 and under-19 categories of Castilla y León to compete, this Saturday, in the Autonomous Championship of both modalities.

The Soria-CS24 Badminton Club sent seven players, standing out above them were those from the under-19 category who won four gold medals, thanks to the great performance of Javier Barrios and Daniela Corchón.

Barrios, being the current absolute regional runner-up, did not have excessive problems solving his matches, both in the previous round and in the final round, to be proclaimed regional winner in the individual modality.

Partnering with Elena Dueñas from Burgos, he certified his double with the gold obtained in the mixed doubles.

Like her teammate, Corchón brilliantly won the title in both the singles and women’s doubles together with Marta Casas, from Badminton Palencia.

With these four golds, the Soria club demonstrated the potential of its quarry.

Both, after an intense first part of the season being the pillars of the CBS to maintain the club’s category in the first national silver and after having conquered the territorial championships, will focus the second part of the campaign on preparing the Spanish championships of the category and reissue hits from past years.

The players in the under-15 category also added to the medal haul, winning two silver medals and a third bronze.

The most outstanding midfielder was Jimena Ayllón, who obtained two runners-up finishes, in singles and mixed doubles with her partner Aarón Barrera.

The medal table was completed by Álvaro Gómez and Daniel Marín who qualified in third position in the men’s doubles.

With these results, the Sorianos are waiting for the possible call from the technical management of the Federation of Castilla y León for a possible call for their participation in the National of regional teams that will be held in Huelva at the end of June.

The weekend was completed with the participation of Isabel Corchón and Carmen Gómez in the territorial test of the Aragonese Federation that was held, during the same Saturday, in the Zaragoza town of Alfajarín.

The most outstanding result was obtained by Gómez when she reached the podium as second place in the under-17 women’s doubles category.
