Media: Svensson becomes coach at Union Berlin

According to media reports, the Dane Bo Svensson will be the new head coach of 1. FC Union Berlin. The 44-year-old’s signing is expected to be announced this week, Sky reported on Thursday. Svensson would succeed Nenad Bjelica, who was released shortly before the end of the season, and interim coach Marco Grote.

Since remaining in the Bundesliga at the last minute, Svensson was considered the preferred candidate of the Berlin club, who only announced Horst Heldt as the new managing director of professional football on Tuesday. Svensson and Heldt are said to have met on Wednesday for final talks.
