Marc Marquez ‘crazy’ at MotoGP Le Mans. Even though he started the race from 13th position, Marquez managed to finish in 2nd position. What did Marquez say about his performance?
Marc Marquez’s performance at the Le Mans MotoGP deserves thumbs up. This appearance also proves that The Baby Aliens still have the spurs even though they are ‘only’ with the Ducati satellite team. Marquez started the race at the Le Mans Circuit from 13th position because of a mistake he made in the qualifying session. However, the rider with motorbike number 93 finished the race well and managed to finish in 2nd place.
“Seeing that there are several who have raced from 13th to 2nd in MotoGP at the moment. It’s difficult to overtake, but it’s true that yesterday in the Sprint Race I emphasized and gave messages in a matter of seconds. For me, speed after the start is more important because speed is what determines during long races,” explained Marquez as reported by Motosan.
For Marquez, speed is what makes him calm and confident that he can overtake little by little. Marquez revealed his strategy in the main race which was different from the Sprint Race until he finally finished in second place. In the Sprint, after starting Marquez was able to immediately push forward. But this is difficult to do during racing, even though the results are equally satisfying.
“I’ve tried, but it depends on the performance of the other riders. In the first corner I couldn’t maintain the racing line like I did in the Sprint, because I saw a rider who if he slowed down on that line, then he could overtake me. That’s why “I decided to secure that position and passed the first corner. From there, I went back to overtaking one by one,” he said again.
At Le Mans, Marquez was also widely highlighted after overtaking Francesco Bagnaia on the last lap before the finish line. The Gresini Racing racer said that he had been waiting for the opportunity to attack Bagnaia. In fact, the attack was successful and Bagnaia had to settle for losing second place.
“I hoped Bagnaia would attack Martin because I saw him very aggressive at Jerez and I said he would attack him because he has acceleration. But he didn’t do that. If you don’t attack, I saw that there could be something to take and I came into the eighth corner very well , actually not enough to attack. Then when I saw he didn’t seem to be defending, I decided to attack,” concluded Marquez.
Thanks to these results, Marquez is now in third place in the 2024 MotoGP standings with a score of 89 points or a difference of 2 points below Bagnaia. Meanwhile, Jorge Martin, who won the Le Mans MotoGP, further strengthened his position in the standings. Martin currently has 129 points.
