Markus Secures Victory in Final Stage at Lagos de Covadonga

“The whole team gave everything they had today, and I’m really happy that it turned out this way. I rode away a few kilometers before the top, and then it was completely up to me. Fortunately it was very tough at the top, so I was able to make the difference. Last year I fell just off the podium on the last day, and now I even move up a spot, really nice.”

Markus started the final stage to the Lagos de Covadonga as number three last year. She then dropped to fourth place. Gaia Realini then finished second in the mountain stage, passing the Dutchwoman from Visma | Lease a Bike.
