Mark Roper, athlete from Club Atletisme Pitiús, has been chosen as the best athlete in 2023 at the Premis de l’Esport Ciutat d’Ibiza. This Friday, Ibiza City Council recognized the best athletes and entities of the island’s capital in an event chaired by the mayor, Rafael Triguero, and held in the Santa Llúcia bastion, in Dalt Vila. During the gala, 25 awards were presented, among which the best club in the city of Ibiza, awarded to the Ibiza Badminton Club, also stood out, and the special mention, posthumously, for Paco Quirós for his career and dedication to athletics and sport in general.

«We want Ibiza to be the city of sport and each of the athletes who are here, with their talent and determination, are an example for everyone and a source of inspiration. But I also want to recognize all those who, although they are not receiving an award tonight, have given the best of themselves and promote the values through sport that we want to transmit,” said Rafa Triguero during his speech.

For her part, the Councilor for Sports, Ana Ferrer, explained that “sport teaches us that, with perseverance and perseverance, we can overcome any obstacle. On the field we are all equal, we all fight for the same goal and we learn to respect and value the opponent,” said the former handball player.
