With the triumph in Cagliari, Mariano Navone wins his first title of the season.

Whether one can speak of a home game for Lorenzo Musetti at the ATP Challenger tournament in Cagliari is certainly a matter of interpretation. After all, the 22-year-old Italian was born on the mainland in Carrara, Tuscany. After all, his hometown is on the coast and therefore just as close to the Mediterranean as the island of Sardinia.

With only one set delivered, Musetti played his way into the final of the “Super” Challenger in category 175, which is played exclusively in the second week of a Masters tournament. His opponent in the final, Mariano Navone, had to go the full distance twice during the tournament.

No. 3 seed Navone got the first break in the fourth game and took a 3-1 lead. As a result, he had to accept the 5:5 equalizer before he was able to win the first set by winning two games in a row.

With the momentum behind him, the Argentine was unstoppable against the No. 2 seed in the tournament and only allowed his opponent to win a single game in the second act. After 1:47 hours, the world number 41 won. with 7:5, 6:1.

After his five Challenger titles last year, Navone triumphed for the first time this season and improved to his new career high with 175 world ranking points, reaching 31st place in the world rankings. Musetti remains in 29th position.

Tabilo wins in Aix-en-Provence

At the parallel 175 Challenger tournament in Aix-en-Provence, France, the number 3 seeded Chilean Alejandro Tabilo and Jaume Munar from Spain faced off in the final. The 26-year-old Tabilo had the reins in his hands from the start and started with a quick 3-0 lead. The 26-year-old Munar had nothing to do in the further course of the match and had to congratulate his opponent on the 6:3, 6:2 win after 85 minutes.

After his four Challenger titles last year, the Chilean left-hander followed up his first ATP title in Adelaide, Australia with his second title of the season. In the world rankings, Tabilo climbs six positions to his career high of 32nd place. Munar climbs five places to 68th place.
