A great achievement from Lucie who made her great season a reality by improving among the seniors even though she was only a 2nd year junior. In the first phase of the competition, she lined up in a group of four. She won her first fight (against an opponent who won a medal last year at the same competition) by a kinza. In the second, she perfectly controlled her opponent but a somewhat harsh judgment leaving the tatami deprived her of a victory.
To access the second phase, that is to say in the final table, Lucie had to win the third fight by an ippon. With a lot of suspense and at the limit of regulation time she managed to carry out the decisive action on a counter-attack. She thus found herself in the quarter-final against an opponent in sport study against whom she scrupulously applied the coach’s instructions to avoid the opponent’s powerful attacks. But she was caught on the ground by an immobilization and bowed. The competition was nevertheless not over for Lucie, who competed in one last fight for the small final and the 3rd place. For her fifth and final fight, she found herself against her opponent in the final from the northern zone of Occitanie, whom she had beaten. It was therefore necessary to repeat the victory to obtain the ticket for the French championship. Done. The referees unanimously declared her victorious by decision after carrying out her “special”, an ippon seoi nage sequence followed by ko uchi gage which could not be validated because the fight time had expired but which changed the decision in his favour.
Great emotion for her family and friends who came to encourage her as well as her coach Remi Géraud who knew how to prepare her physically and mentally. Lucie is the seventh judokate to be selected for the “national” phase this year. A record for Judo Bassin Aveyron which climbs another step. Lucie will refine her preparation for the French championship, where the whole club will be behind her, by participating with her training teammates in the Grand Prix d’Occitanie, at the end of May in Cahors.
