Almost 300 archers from all over the national territory gathered at this event, among them and as the only representative from the province of León, Héctor González Manuel was from Ponferradino, competing in the Compound Bow modality in the Junior category.

On Saturday the 18th, the qualifying round was held, in which Héctor, after shooting his 72 arrows, signed a scoreboard of 682 points out of a possible 720, with which he managed to place himself in a very good second position to face the qualifying rounds.

Already on Sunday, the man from Bercia won in the quarterfinals against José Cabello from Huelva with a score of 140 to 135, later he would do the same in the semifinals with the Madrid goalkeeper Miguel Rubio, whom he would win with a resounding score of 146 to 138. , which gave him the pass to compete in the final for gold with Álvaro Pardo, also from Madrid.

The two archers played a very tight final in which, after each shooting their 15 arrows, they would sign a tie at 141 points that would have to be resolved with a single tie-breaking arrow, which on this occasion was decided in favor of the Madrid native, with Héctor having to settle. with the second box of the podium.

A great result for the Bercian, who next weekend will return to the capital of Spain to compete in the final qualifier for the national team, and in which Héctor will try to win one of the highly contested places to attend the European Championship that will be held in the month of August in Romania.
