LET Tour home victory: Golfer Försterling wins German Masters

Victory at home: Berliner Alexandra Försterling triumphs at the German Masters in Brandenburg. The fans can also cheer for an ace.
Professional golfer Alexandra Försterling completed her home victory at the Amundi German Masters in Michendorf, Brandenburg, southwest of Berlin. The 24-year-old from Berlin won the play-off at the Seddiner See Golf and Country Club with a birdie on the second extra hole against the Austrian Emma Spitz.
The two golfers were in the lead after four rounds with 276 strokes each, so a playoff for victory was necessary. For Försterling it is the fourth triumph on the Ladies European Tour (LET). It is the first victory for a German golfer at a LET tournament in Germany.
“I’m really speechless,” said Försterling after the victory. “In the playoffs, we both hit the ball so close to the flag. That was great.” She celebrated her first success on the LET tour in September last year at the Swiss Ladies Open. She won title number two in Mallorca in November 2023. Försterling last won at the Aramco Team Series in Tampa (US state of Florida) at the beginning of March. “I never expected everything to happen so quickly.”
Cara Gorlei scored the shot of the day in the LET tournament worth 300,000 euros. The South African sank her ball in one shot on the eleventh hole – a 153 meter long par 3.
