The German cycling team BORA-hansgrohe announced this Wednesday that its cyclist Lennard Kämna has already returned to his country, Germany, a month after a serious accident he suffered in Tenerife.

The 27-year-old athlete had suffered serious chest trauma, rib fractures and a lung contusion when he was hit by a car on the Spanish island.

Kämna, who has won stages in the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta, was flown to Hamburg where doctors will treat his injuries.

“It was not an easy time at the Tenerife university hospital, but I am very grateful to the medical team and nurses for what they have done for me here in recent weeks. I am very happy that today the first step of my journey has been completed. recovery,” Kämna said.

The cyclist from Bremen underwent successful surgery in Tenerife last week, following a collision with a car traveling in the opposite direction. Kämna was preparing on the island with the German team for his planned start in the next Giro d’Italia, which begins on May 4. His involvement is now highly unlikely.
