Leeds United Falls Short in Bid for Automatic Promotion, Set to Face Norwich City in Play-Offs

Leeds United needed a defeat of the Ipswich outfit as well as a win over Southampton to move into the top two, which automatically secures a place in the Premier League.

However, Leeds lost 1-2 and will face old club Norwich City in the play-off semi-finals.

Leicester City also entered the Premier League with 97 points from 46 games, one point less than Ipswich. Leeds United finished third with 90 points, Southampton 87 points, West Bromwich Albion 75 points and Norwich City 73 points.

Birmingham City, Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United were relegated to England’s third league.
