LeBron James’ Son Given Green Light at NBA Draft Combine After Heart Surgery

LeBron James’ son was one of 78 players invited to the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago and, according to Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN), doctors there gave the green light that the guard had the necessary fitness for the NBA.

There were question marks here after the 19-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest during a training session last summer. James subsequently underwent heart surgery and was able to return to the field in December. But Bronny stayed inconspicuous in college. For USC, the teenager only averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.4 minutes in 25 games with rates of 36.6 percent from the field and 26.7 percent from the three-point line.

ESPN now ranks James as the 98th best player in the upcoming draft, after the 19-year-old was ranked among the top ten in various mock drafts last year. A return to USC seemed out of the question anyway, as head coach Andy Enfield left the program and James also registered for the so-called “transfer portal”. Father LeBron spoke of “difficult decisions” that would be made.
