Laura Siegemund reached the quarterfinals for the first time at the tennis tournament in Rabat, Morocco. After the surprising second-round win against second-seeded Anna Blinkowa, the 36-year-old from Metzingen won 6:4, 6:4 against Colombian Camila Osorio in the round of 16 and will now face Wiktorija Tomowa from Bulgaria.

Both opponents had great difficulty getting their serve games through. A total of ten breaks were recorded at the end of the match. In the second set, Siegmund was already 2:4 behind, but then turned around and won four games in a row to end the match with her second match point on her own serve.
Siegemund, ranked 78th in the world, is the last German in the preparation tournament for the French Open in Paris since Tatjana Maria (Bad Saulgau) lost in the first round. There, her focus will also be on the doubles, in which she is one of the world’s best as number six in the WTA rankings.
