Lacazette wants to take “a few days” before thinking about his future

The Lyon captain looks back on the Coupe de France final lost to PSG on Saturday and the 2023-24 season, before discussing his future with Les Gones.

Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon striker, after the 1-2 defeat against PSG in the Coupe de France final ) : «What was missing? A little more calm with the ball, especially in the first half. We gave the ball back every time as soon as they pressed. And the realistic in both surfaces. Regrets ? Especially in the first period. We could have done better. Disappointed, sad? Both… We’re going on vacation and thinking about next season. I can imagine the disappointment of the supporters after everything they did for us. They gave voice. They came en masse, they made a lot of noise, we felt that they were behind us. (on his future) That’s really not the topic today. We’ll wait a few days. There is no “I’m leaving” or “I want to stay”. I was on the final. I’ll take a few days to think about all of this.

The season ? We have come a long way… If we had been told, in October, November, that we would be finalists in the Coupe de France and qualified for the Europa League, we would have signed straight away. But when we get to the final, we forget all that a little, we want to win. It didn’t work out today. The feeling of duty accomplished? Last week, yes. Not tonight… PSG in control at the end? There was a lot of fatigue. And we were facing great players who know how to keep the ball. They were in total control. It was harder for us. (on the incidents before the match) It’s sad that it’s come to this in football… It could have been a great celebration for everyone, without those burned buses… We, the players, can’t control it.” (in mixed zone)
