The Labronian archer: “I am very happy with this medal even if there remains a pinch of bitterness for having exited in the semi-final where emotion played a bad joke on me. Thanks to my family who supports me and puts up with me and to my coach Paolo Del Nista”
Once again, like two years ago, the Labronian archer Matteo Panariello of the Livornesi Archers Company put a splendid bronze AI around his neck European Para-Archery Championships currently underway at Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica. A very important and respectable result achieved in the Visually Impaired 1 category where Panariello triumphed in the bronze final against the archer from Andorra Jordi Casellas Albiol. In the semi-final Matteo had thrown his heart over the obstacle but, thanks to a bit of tension, had given way to the Cypriot Christos Misos who then finished second behind the Belgian Ruben Vanhollebeke.
“I’m happy with this medal – said Panariello when contacted by telephone by the editorial staff of QuiLivorno.it – even if, as I am, I have a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth for the result of the semi-final which saw me defeated against Cypriot athlete. I’m sorry, I could and can do more. I know I can do more. But like two years ago I had to deal with a little too much tension, a little too much emotion which didn’t allow me to reach the final and play for the gold. It’s a shame but I’m still happy, it’s a great result. Now head to the Italian championships in Pesaro next week. I take this opportunity – concludes Panariello – to thank my family who supports me and puts up with me and to welcome my coach again with great enthusiasm Paolo Del Nista who comes back to follow me after 4 years. It’s really important for me to have him by my side.”
