Ace Ahn Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance), who played in her first singles match, showed off her superior skills against Line Kiaersfeld and defeated her 2-0 (21-14 21-14).

The World Team Championships, held every two years, will be held as a men’s and women’s team event, with 3 singles games and 2 doubles games.

16 countries will participate and play in the group stage in 4 groups, and then the 1st and 2nd place winners from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.

The Korean men’s badminton team, which participated in the ’33rd Men’s World Team Championship’ (Thomas Cup) held at the same location, also had a smooth sail.

Although they lost 2-3 to China in the third game of Group A, they won a ticket to the quarterfinals with 2 wins and 1 loss. They previously defeated Canada and Australia 5-0, respectively. First place in Group A was taken by China, which won all three matches.

Coach Kim Hak-gyun, who is in charge of both the men’s and women’s national teams, said, “We will prepare well for the remaining time so that all the players can win the quarterfinals by working hard.” He added, “Unity is the most important in team competitions. We need to create an atmosphere where one person gives positive energy to the team. He expressed his belief that our players will be able to do it well.”

The quarterfinals of the competition will begin on the 2nd, and the matchups will be determined through a later draw.
