Last November, police in Newport Beach, California opened a case involving Josh Giddey and an alleged inappropriate relationship with a minor. The NBA is doing the same thing and opening a parallel investigation. Six months later and four after police declared his innocence, the League also halted its process of reaching similar conclusions.
“The process did not corroborate the existence of any criminal activity,” read the January police statement. In this way, Giddey is exempt from any sanctions in this regard.
The news comes to the Australian leader in a period of sporting doubts. After finishing his team’s final two games of the season as a substitute for the first time in his career. This and the apparent lack of fit with the Oklahoma City Thunder’s core have placed him on the exit ramp for several analysts and journalists around the franchise.
