Jordan Sarrou French mountain bike champion for the second time

A few hours after the success of Loana Lecomte, now four times French champion, Jordan Sarrou won his second French cross-country mountain bike champion title this Sunday in Levens (Alpes-Maritimes). A valuable success less than three months before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (July 26-August 11) which allows him to “gain confidence” in view of the Olympic event.

Already a winner in 2020, the BMC rider managed to take the advantage in the second third of the race. Although slightly suffering since his return from the two inaugural rounds of the World Cup in Brazil in April, Sarrou won with a 27-second lead over Thomas Griot and 2’11” over his teammate Titouan Carod, double title holder: “Yesterday (Saturday), I wasn’t at my best but in my head, I was ready, I did well to start. It was a good team race with Titouan. I’m really happy to finish like this, it’s just fun. It’s confidence gained and it motivates me for this summer,” he reacted after his victory.

Note the poor performance of Victor Koretzky, although in very good shape recently, who only finished sixth after completely missing his start. “I slipped on the pedal, it caused me to unclip the other foot. By the time I got back in the saddle I was far away and then lost too much energy trying to get back on. I quickly understood that it was dead, he commented. I felt good, but that’s how it is. It’s not a big deal and if I get an Olympic title instead, it will suit me just fine. »
