JC Wermelskirchen Shines at Women’s League Fight Day and Judo District Championship

Everything was perfectly prepared for the big day. “The whole club was on its feet at the women’s league fight day and the subsequent judo district championship in the U 13 age group,” says Katrin Seide from the organizing JC Wermelskirchen, looking back on the big fight day.

The complex construction with the inauguration of the new mats and the subsequent assembly in the dojo was a feat of strength – “but thanks to the special commitment of many people, everything went smoothly,” says Katrin Seide.

The young judo players also presented themselves very successfully in front of their own audience. Of the club’s 13 participants, five remained undefeated: Pia Wächtler, Katharina Jalunin, Karlous Seif Allah and Ron Trienenjost confidently won the district championship title.

Pia Wächtler demonstrated impressively that you shouldn’t be discouraged by defeats. In the U11 age group, the JC fighter narrowly missed qualifying for the district championships with fifth place. In the older age group, she won the duel against her clubmate Margaretha Skowronek, who became runner-up with the only defeat in the tournament.

Paula Haase and Aaron Hartmann were also second on the winner’s podium. The latter had particularly strong competition in his weight class and fought for the silver medal with a lot of courage. Rustam Kholikov started the tournament too cautiously and lost his chances of winning the title with a surprising defeat at the start. However, he subsequently won all of his fights confidently.

In the same weight class, Omar Omar achieved a strong third place. Lene Frieling and Kamil Nikolajuk were also able to qualify for the district championships as third in their weight class. Volodymyr Chevhuz, Thomas Butlin and Leila Clemm gained important experience at the district championships.
