Jared Goff Signs Record-Breaking Contract Extension with Detroit Lions

DETROIT – Lions quarterback Jared Goff can sleep soundly about his financial future.

Depending on the network ESPNGoff signed a colossal contract extension on Monday that will earn him a sum of US$212 million for a period of four years.

A sum of $170 million is fully guaranteed to him, reports journalist Adam Schefter.

In terms of annual salary, Goff ranks second among NFL athletes, behind Joe Burrow, and just ahead of Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts.

The former first overall pick of the Los Angeles Rams unsurprisingly becomes the highest-paid Lions player in franchise history.

This agreement granted to Goff, 29, is in addition to those of wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown (four seasons and $120 million) and tackle Penei Sewell (four years and $112 million), also granted since the start of the off-season.

After an excellent performance in the regular season – a 12-5 record and their first sectional title since 1993 – the Lions followed up with an inspired performance in the playoffs, reaching a first association final since 1991.
