Jansen’s Stellar Performance Leads Blue Jays to Second Consecutive Win

The Blue Jays scored their second straight victory on Monday, against the Chicago White Sox in Toronto, and they can certainly thank Danny Jansen.

Indeed, the 29-year-old receiver had an extremely successful game, notably producing five points in his team’s 9-3 win. In the third inning, Jansen hit a double that allowed Kevin Kiermaier to score.

In the seventh inning, Jansen scored his fifth bomb of the season to give his team a 7-3 lead, before hitting a two-run single in the eighth inning. He finished his day’s work with three hits in five at-bats.

«[Jansen] is having a good time at the plate, Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday after the game. He hits the ball hard. It went well today, and he got the job done. The single in the eighth inning really gave us some breathing room, and obviously there was the very important home run in the seventh inning. […] He was consistent throughout the year.”

However, Jansen was not the only member of the Queen City club to be inspired.

Bo Bichette also pitched in, sending the ball to safety four times. He is now fourth in the history of the Ontario franchise in games with four or more hits with 13. He notably allowed his team to take a 5-2 advantage in the sixth inning.

Daulton Varsho was the author of the other Blue Jays home run. As for the White Sox, they took the lead in the second inning thanks to a single from Korey Lee. Paul DeJong was in particularly good shape for the visitors, with three hits, a home run and two RBIs in four at-bat appearances.

It was Jose Berrios (5-3) who signed the victory for the Blue Jays. In six innings on the mound, he allowed three runs and eight hits. Berrios also put six opposing batters in the mitt.

The two teams will cross swords again on Tuesday.
