Jannik Sinner Withdraws from Rome Masters 1000 Due to Hip Injury, Sets Sights on Roland-Garros

With death in his soul, Jannik Sinner is forced to withdraw from the Masters 1000 in Rome (May 6-19, to be continued on Eurosport) due to a hip injury which forced him to withdraw from the tournament. Madrid, he announced on Saturday on his X account (formerly Twitter).

“It is not easy to write this message, but after speaking again with the doctors and specialists about my hip problems, I have to announce that unfortunately I will not be able to play in Rome,” explained the winner of the ‘Australian Open 2024. Sinner now turns to Roland-Garros at the end of the month (May 26-June 9) and it is with this sole aim in mind that he has given up on Rome. So far his season on clay has been relatively light since he has only played two tournaments, in Monte-Carlo where he stopped in the semi-final (beaten by Stefanos Tsitsipas) and therefore in Madrid where he gave up before his quarter-final against Félix Auger-Aliassime.
