It’s not Jagr, it’s not Crosby and it’s not Forsberg either. Latvian captain Daugavins has set a new WC record

In addition, the IIHF states that since 1993, when Latvia returned to the World Championship as an independent country, eight goals have been scored in extra time, and Daugavins has scored half of them.

The only players who have scored more than one goal in overtime in the world championships are the Dane Pēteris Regins, another Latvian hockey player Rūdolfs Balcers and the Finn Sakari Manninen, who managed to score two goals each.

The IIHF social networking site “Instagram” offers a video review of the special Daugavins moments in extra time:

This year, the WC will take place in the Czech cities of Prague and Ostrava from May 10 to 26. Latvian hockey players will play in one group against the national teams of France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden and the USA.
