Just a few more days of waiting and then the spotlight will turn on for the Judo World Championships 2024, scheduled for May 19th to 24th in Abu Dhabi. The world championship represents the important event, with medals and important points up for grabs in terms of Olympic qualification ranking for the Paris 2024 Games.
While waiting for the final lists, Italy presents itself with a very strong group of athletes. All the big names of the Italian movement are currently registered, as well as the athletes still in the balance for the Five Circles pass. The Bel Paese would therefore present itself in the capital of the United Arab Emirates with the maximum contingent (18 athletes, 9 men and 9 women) for the individual categories, while we will discover later the choices of the national technical management regarding the world Team Event. In case of participation in the team event, other athletes may be called.
Assunta Scutto (48), Odette Giuffrida (52), Veronica Toniolo (57), Flavia Favorini (63), Savita Russo (63), Kim Polling (70), Irene Pedrotti (70), Alice Bellandi (78), Asya Tavano (+78) in the women’s field and Angelo Pantano (60), Andrea Carlino (60), Matteo Piras (66), Elios Manzi (66), Manuel Lombardo (73), Giovanni Esposito (73), Antonio Esposito (81), Christian Parlati (90), Gennaro Pirelli (100) among the men are part of the current entry-list.
