Italy Shines in World Cup Archery Competition in Shanghai: Mixed Team Results and Individual Performances

The first stage of the World Cup continues in Shanghai (Chn) where Italy has already won a place in the women’s compound team final which will be played tomorrow, Saturday 27 April, and yesterday they came very close to the podium with the men’s team of Olympic team, fourth after the shoot-off in the bronze final with Taipei.

MIXED TEAM

Today the Azzurri took to the field with the two mixed teams without however managing to repeat themselves. In the Olympics, the young couple formed by Roberta Di Francesco and Matteo Bilisari lost in the first round against Malaysia (Mohamad Zairi, Busthamin) with a result of 5-1.
Marcella Tonioli and Michea Godano were eliminated in the round of 16 in the compound after the defeat against Kazakhstan (Zhexenbinova, Tyuntyun) 154-152.
In the second part of the program the Olympics took to the field again for the individual preliminaries, which saw a total of five Italians competing.

THE RESULTS OF THE INDIVIDUAL OLYMPIC

The Italy of the Olympic arch stops in the individual challenges in the round of 16. In the men’s competition Matteo Bilisari comes close to achieving the feat against the number one on the scoreboard, the Korean Kim Woojin. The challenge against one of the best archers on the planet ends only in the shoot off with the Italian losing 6-5 (10-9) after winning 6-4 with the Turkish Yildirmis and 6-2 with Islam (BAN). Matteo Borsani fails to get through the first round, defeated by the reigning Olympic champion Mete Gazoz (TUR) 7-3.
In the women’s competition Elisabetta Mijno beat the Vietnamese Loc 6-4, then the Chinese Yang 6-2 but surrendered in the round of 16 6-0 to the Indian Deepika Kumari.
Roberta Di Francesco and Aiko Rolando fail to win the first clash, defeated by the Israeli Moshe 6-4 and the German Bauer 6-2.
