Tomorrow team preliminaries valid for Olympic Qualification
Morning full of satisfactions for Italy at the European Championships in Essen, Germany. All the Italians pass the first rounds of the individual competitions and continue to race for medals. In the afternoon, the mixed teams are eliminated. Tomorrow we continue with the individual preliminaries, from the 16th to the semi-finals, and then space for the team matches of both divisions. From an Olympic perspective, access to the semi-finals of the recurve trios will be fundamental to aim for qualification for Paris 2024.
TOMORROW THE ELIMINATORIES FOR THE OLYMPIC TEAM PASSES – Today the teams competed for the first qualifying round, both trios had already qualified for the round of 16 and therefore did not take to the field, they will do so tomorrow starting the race in the preliminaries. The men’s team formed by Mauro Nespoli, Federico Musolesi and Alessandro Paoli will challenge Luxembourg (Ansel, Henckels, Klein), while the women’s team with Tatiana Andreoli, Lucilla Boari and Chiara Rebagliati will face Slovakia (Barankova, Bendikova, Druskova). The preliminaries will continue until the semi-finals and will be valid not only for the European title: in fact, there is also a team pass to the Paris Olympics for both men and women, with the finals taking place on Sunday morning.
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS – In the individual match of the men’s Olympic Games Federico Musolesi beats the Slovakian Duchon 6-0, Alessandro Paoli beats the Latvian Blaze 7-3 and both join Mauro Nespoli in the round of 32 where they will challenge the Georgian Machavariani, the Croatian Sulik and the Slovenian respectively Ravnikar. Objective also achieved by Lucilla Boari in the women’s competition who wins 7-3 against the Belgian Hellemans and faces the Danish Degn in the next round, while Chiara Rebagliati will face the British Healey and Tatiana Andreoli will face the Turkish Yenihayat.
In the compound Marco Bruno beats the Slovenian Jevsnik 148-148 (10-10*) in the shoot-off and the Austrian Preisser 144-143, deserving the challenge against the Polish Konecki in the next round. Michea Godano and Federico Pagnoni also advance, winning against the German Flub 143-141 and the Greek Drakiotis 146-146 (10-9), their next opponents will be the Israeli Hadar and the Ukrainian Karpenko.
In the women’s competition, Andrea Nicola Moccia wins in the play-off 141-141 (10*-10) with the German Walter and in the round of 32 she will face her teammate Elisa Roner while Marcella Tonioli will face the Swede Karlsson.
THE RESULTS OF THE MIXED TEAMS – The blue mixed teams do not go beyond the quarter-finals. In the Olympic match Mauro Nespoli and Chiara Rebagliati beat the Czech Republic 5-4 (19-18) in the shoot-off but then lost to the Netherlands (Van der Winkel, Wijler) 5-1.
Same path for the compound players Elisa Roner and Michea Godano, winning 159-153 against Germany and defeated 153-152 by Luxembourg (Shkolna, Seywert).
