Italy announces a pre-list of 30 players for the EURO without Immobile and with Fagioli

Italy, current European champion and rival in the group stage of Spain, announced this Thursday a pre-list of 30 players for the Euro Cup in Germany in which the big novelty was Nicolo Fagioli, who once again had minutes after eight months of absence last Monday following a sanction for illegal betting, as well as the absence of the starting forward in the Euro 2020 final, Ciro Immobile.

The Italian coach, Luciano Spalletti, announced the list of 30 players, which will have to be reduced to 26, with which he will try to revalidate the title achieved at Wembley three years ago. In it, only 10 of the 23 members of the champion team in 2021 – Gianluigi Donnarumma, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Jorginho, Nicolò Barella, Federico Chiesa, Alex Meret, Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni, Bryan Cristante and Lorenzo Pellegrini – repeat.

Thus, the absences of important players such as Ciro Immobile – Golden Boot in the 2019-20 season and top scorer in Serie A on three occasions -, Marco Verratti, Manuel Locatelli and Matteo Politano, as well as the call-up of the young Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli, who reappeared last Monday against Bologna after missing almost the entire season due to a sanction for illegal betting.

A ‘azzurri’ team that is in Group B of the Euro Cup along with Spain, Croatia and Albania. Italy will debut against Albania on June 15, play its second match in the competition against Spain on June 20 and close the group stage against Croatia on June 24.
