Italian Sports Federation FIJLKAM Holds 165th Federal Council Meeting in Rome

Rome, 17 May 2024 – The 165th FIJLKAM Federal Council met today.

At the opening of the proceedings, President Domenico Falcone took stock of the results of the national teams and the state of the Olympic qualification process for judo and wrestling which sees Aurora Russo qualified in wrestling, while in judo 9 male and female athletes are already qualified (Manuel Lombardo, Antonio Esposito, Christian Parlati, Gennaro Pirelli, Assunta Scutto, Odette Giuffrida, Veronica Toniolo, Alice Bellandi, Asya Tavano) to whom further qualification may be added at the end of the upcoming World Championships in Abu Dhabi. In karate, the large number of medals won at the recent European Championships, 13 of which one gold in karate and 2 gold in para-karate, further certify the great competitiveness of the Italian team. President Falcone expressed regret for Frank Chamizo’s failure to qualify also due to the controversy that, unfortunately, his participation in the continental and world tournaments has had.
He then went on to illustrate the topic of federal charters with the need to adapt the Federal Organic Regulation to the changes introduced by the new Statute as well as give a new approach to the Sector ROFs.
He subsequently reported on the relations with CONI and Sport and Health in particular with regard to the various difficulties following the introduction of the sports reform and on the opportunity to increase the sources of self-financing for the National Sports Federations.
President Falcone returned to the topic of the Safeguarding Policy, reporting on the preparation and publication on the federal website of sample documents that could be a guide to sports clubs in fulfilling the obligations established by the legislation.
The new “Martial Arts and Wellness” project is developing through the development of a technical protocol and the creation of a promotional campaign: this lays the foundations for developing its potential, especially in terms of new members.
With regards to communication and promotion activities, the President highlighted the appreciation that the new federal logo has received from CONI and other sports organisations, as well as the great response received from the recent Openday for X Municipality schools which combined the conclusion of the “Tutti giu per Terra” project at the presentation of the new edition of the Foro Italico Camp, the summer center that will take place at the Olympic Center of Ostia from 10 June to 9 August.
President Falcone also announced the next art exhibition which will be hosted in the Museum of Combat Sports and the naming of the judo gym after Augusto Ceracchini.

After examining other organizational and administrative issues, including the approval of the 2023 final budget and having taken the related resolutions, the Council concluded its work at 12.00.
