For the first time in its history, Italy will be able to field an athlete in the men’s badminton singles tournament. Giovanni Toti in fact, he qualified for Paris 2024 by taking advantage of the waiver of Australia which declined the quota received at continental level. The regulation states that a nation cannot qualify in more than two draws through the continental quotas, so Australia was forced to opt for two of the four cards obtained by betting everything on the listed cards: the choice fell on its athletes, thus leaving the place of Tang was assigned to Toti, first among those excluded and present in the top 250 positions of the Olympic ranking.
