Isaiah Hartenstein has deviated from the path to success with the New York Knicks on their targeted path to the semifinals of the NBA playoffs. The German center’s team lost the third game of the quarterfinal series at the Indiana Pacers with 106:111 and is now only leading 2:1. Four wins are needed in the best-of-seven series to advance to the final four.

Hartenstein had six points, eight rebounds and five assists as a starter in Indianapolis. The Knicks’ best throwers, who were missing All-Star Julius Randle as well as Bojan Bogdanovic and Mitchell Robinson, were Donte DiVincenzo with 35 and Jalen Brunson with 26 points. For the Pacers, Tyrese Haliburton excelled with 35 points. Game four is also on Sunday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

MVP Jokic excels at Denver

Meanwhile, defending champion Denver Nuggets struck back against the Minnesota Timberwolves. After two home defeats, the team led by two-time MVP Nikola Jokic won game three in Minneapolis 117:90 and shortened the series to 1:2. For the Timberwolves, who also have home advantage in the fourth game on Sunday, it was the first defeat in the current play-offs.

The key to the Nuggets’ initial success was the unified team performance. Seven players scored in double figures, led by the outstanding Nikola Jokic, who had 30 points, 14 rebounds and nine assists. At Minnesota, Anthony Edwards (19) scored best.
