According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Pennsylvania organization would intend to imitate what the Pacers did with Bruce Brown; that is, give him a great salary but under a 1+1 with a team option for the second year. The Sixers understand that this way they would not only get one of the best shooters in history, but they could also make use of his high salary if they wanted to undertake a transfer throughout the season.
While Thompson is an option for Philadelphia, he is far from the only one. The Sixers want to have experienced players on the wings. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope would be another name to take into account. The Denver Nuggets guard has a player option worth $15.4 million for the 2024-25 campaign, but everything indicates that he will reject it to sign a more lucrative deal.
