Injury Concerns for Borussia’s Robin Hack as Season Nears End

Patrick Herrmann (2nd from left) came on as a substitute for Robin Hack in the final phase on May 11, 2024.

In a negative sense, that would be a fitting end to a messed up Borussia season!

It is finished! By hanging and choking, Borussia Mönchengladbach managed to stay in the league on the 33rd Bundesliga matchday. A 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt wasn’t enough to eliminate the last worries on their own – 1. FC Cologne then took over with help by winning 3-2 against Union Berlin.

Gladbach worried about hack! Season finale in danger?

Bitter from Borussia’s point of view: Frankfurt, who would actually have been beaten if Borussia Dortmund were to win the Champions League next season, would even have been playing in the premier class.

The Foals got off to a better start in the sold-out Borussia Park. As with the 2-2 draw in Bremen, it was Robin Hack (25) who put Gladbach in the lead with his first shot of the game.

Hack is undoubtedly Borussia’s life insurance in the final phase of the season! In the last four games, Hack scored five goals – all Borussia goals apart from the equalizer from Flo Neuhaus (27) in the Weserstadion.

The entire offensive game and basically Borussia’s successful rescue ultimately depended entirely on Hack’s efficiency and creative moments. Without him things would probably have looked much bleaker.

It was all the more bitter that Hack walked limping through the locker room after the final whistle. The 25-year-old had to go to an interview and left the dressing room. When he returned it was clear that the game against Eintracht had left its mark.

There is no doubt that no further failure would be as difficult to compensate for as a lack of Hack in its current state. The sporting worst case scenario!

Given that the Foals no longer have to fight to stay in the league in the final game in Stuttgart (May 18, 2024, 3:30 p.m.), the worry lines could have been even greater.

The Foals are hoping for the all-clear soon – and that Hack, who was substituted for Patrick Herrmann (33) shortly before the end, may be in the starting line-up for VfB.

If there is a candidate who seized the opportunity in the last Bundesliga games to collect plus points for a possible sensation in a European Championship nomination, then it was undoubtedly Hack.

With this in mind, the Pforzheim native will hope that his mini-hope will at least not be lost due to injury. It is currently clear: Hack in this form can only be stopped by an injury.
